Zach is the ASCE Central Jersey Branch President, past CJB Director and previous President of CJB Younger Member Group. He is a Highway Design Engineer with over 10 years of experience at Traffic Planning and Design Inc. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and obtained his NJ PE and ENV SP. Zach was involved with ASCE for many years. He enjoys traveling to new destinations with his family or friends.

Ted is the ASCE Central Jersey Branch President-elect, past ASCE Region Governor, and 2019 Chair of ASCE's History and Heritage Committee. Ted provides training on various transportation related subjects across the country.

Dr. Marsooli is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Ocean Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology. He teaches undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in Civil Engineering and Coastal/Ocean Engineering. His research focuses on flood hazards and mitigation, and climate change impacts.

Mr. Walczak is a dedicated Structural Engineer with a diverse background encompassing coastal, civil, geotechnical, structural, and site development engineering. Serving as the Vice President of the CJB and the Student Outreach Chair in the YMG, Ian is deeply committed to advancing the engineering profession and nurturing the next generation of engineers. His journey with ASCE began during his college days, where he served as the captain of the steel bridge team and played an active role in the ASCE RU Student chapter. Ian's dedication to engineering excellence and his extensive ASCE involvement underscore his commitment to driving innovation and collaboration within the engineering community, particularly in addressing the challenges facing coastal and waterfront environments.

Amanda is a licensed Professional Engineer and a certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer. She holds a bachelor’s degree of Science from The College of New Jersey in Civil Engineering and has over ten years of experience. She is a Traffic Engineer at Gannett Fleming. She has been involved with ASCE for many years and is the current Treasurer of the Central Jersey Branch.

Karam is a Traffic Engineer at WSP Global. She is on the journey of specializing in infrastructure, construction, and project management with five years of experience in the industry, academia, and research. Her experience with the integration of information technology and artificial intelligence in the construction, transportation industry and project management has provided her the ability to identify, isolate, and resolve project critical issues. Karam earned her second master’s degree in computer science and information systems from Rider University. Her first master’s degree is in construction engineering management and her bachelor’s is in civil engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology, and soon she will be pursing her Phd. in Information Technology. Outside work she likes to golf, roller skate, play tennis and pickleball. She reads self-development, coding, design process and astronomy books, volunteers with community centers, and is keenly active in the transportation and engineering community. Karam is involved in YPT New York chapter, WTS NJ chapter, ASCE Central Jersey chapter, ACEC, ITS NJ and other societies.
Michael Horst, PhD, PE Director

Dr. Horst is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) where he teaches courses in water resources engineering. He has been at TCNJ since 2006 and also served as Chair for the Civil Engineering Department for 9 years. His research interests include analyzing NJ watersheds and comparing their historical performance to predictions based on NRCS methodology. He has been a member of the ASCE-CJB Board of Directors since 2011 and has held various positions including: secretary, director, vice president, and president. Additionally, he served as the President of the ASCE NJ Section in 2019-2020. He is a licensed engineer and stays active in the professional community through review of H&H designs conducted by various consultants, as well as through teaching continuing education courses on the use of the HEC software packages (HMS and RAS). Prior to TCNJ he completed a 2-year Post-doc at Villanova University where he focused on Storm-Water-Management and BMP designs. He received his academic degrees from Penn State University.

Payal Thukral is a Structural engineer with over 5 years of bridge design and rehabilitation experience at Modjeski and Masters. She earned her Master's in Structural Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. She has worked on various transportation infrastructure projects across the Northeast United States.

Lou Truppa is from Iselin, New Jersey. He went to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) where he received his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering (2022). Lou was the former president of the ASCE student chapter at TCNJ for 3 years and a member of the varsity football team. He has been involved with ASCE since his sophomore year of college (2019) and the Central Jersey Younger Member Group for about 2 years. He joined the Central Jersey Branch board in 2023 as a Director and recently joined the ASCE collaborative community. At JMT, Lou has worked on a number of DOT and county projects involving roadway and guide rail design.

Rich is a Structural Engineer with Traffic, Planning, & Design. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering as well as a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. Rich has five years of experience and has been invovled with ASCE for many years, as President of the Stevens ASCE Student Chapter to President of the Central Jersey Younger Member Group.
